Primary Care at MIT Health offers comprehensive, coordinated, patient-centered care for both adults and children — and we’re accepting new patients of all ages.
Get started. If you’re an MIT student or covered by any MIT-sponsored health plan, you can simply make an appointment at our Cambridge or Lexington care center with any provider who is accepting new patients. You don’t need to choose a primary care provider before scheduling a first appointment, and you don’t need to make a long-term commitment. Give us a try, and see what MIT Health can do for you.
Should I choose a primary care provider?
You can get your primary care at MIT Health without choosing a primary care provider (PCP), but it can still be a good idea to choose one. Your PCP will be your personal clinician — the provider you or your child will see most often and with whom you’ll discuss your health concerns and questions.
You’ll see your PCP for most routine care — regular physical exams, medical concerns that are not urgent, or management of chronic conditions, like diabetes or high blood pressure. When you need more than routine care, your PCP can connect you to specialists, order diagnostic testing at MIT Health or elsewhere, and coordinate follow-up care as needed.
How do I choose a primary care provider?
You can choose a primary care provider (PCP) for every member of your family who will be getting care at MIT Health. Start by taking a look at PCPs who are accepting new patients. Click on any provider’s name to read more about their background and additional specialties or clinical interests. Once you see a provider who seems like a good fit, make an appointment. And once you decide you want that clinician to be your PCP, just tell any front-desk patient care representative at MIT Health to include that choice on your record.
