MIT Health is committed to providing a welcoming and supportive care environment for our LGBTQ+ patients.
All of our clinicians and staff are dedicated to creating an environment where LGBTQ+ individuals can access the healthcare they need with confidence, knowing they will be treated with dignity and respect. Additionally, some MIT Health clinicians have a special interest in caring for LGBTQ+ individuals or particular expertise in providing gender-affirming care.
LGBTQ+ health services
We strive to provide all of our patients with compassionate, high-quality care tailored to their specific needs. At MIT Health, you can receive your primary care from healthcare providers who are knowledgeable about LGBTQ+ issues, including transgender healthcare. We also offer:
- Mental health care and counseling for students, including individual and group psychotherapy for LGBTQ+-related issues such as coming out and exploring questions around sexual orientation or gender identity.
- Comprehensive gynecological care
- Sexually transmitted infection testing and treatment
- HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) and post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP).
Gender-affirming care
At MIT Health, we understand that gender identity exists within a broad spectrum and that transgender people and those with questions about gender identity may have unique needs that require experienced and supportive healthcare providers and services. MIT Health provides gender-affirming counseling, medical/hormonal treatment, surgical referrals, and letters of support to appropriate specialists.
