MIT Health’s Obstetrics and Gynecology Service offers a wide range of healthcare services, including in-person prenatal and gynecological visits, obstetrics, and birth control appointments.
Overview
MIT Health’s Obstetrics and Gynecology (OBGYN) Service is available for in-person prenatal visits and gynecological visits, including birth control appointments.
We offer a wide range of healthcare services, including:
- Gynecology: Working with Mount Auburn Hospital physicians and certified nurse midwives, MIT Health’s obstetricians, gynecologists, and nurse practitioners provide complete gynecologic care. Services include exams for abnormal Pap tests, menstrual problems, pelvic pain, infections, infertility, premenstrual syndrome (PMS), and gynecologic cancers. Other services include annual exams, family planning, contraception consults, breast exams, Pap tests, mammography, pregnancy testing and counseling, and menopause counseling.
- Obstetrics: MIT Health obstetricians, gynecologists, and nurse practitioners and Mount Auburn Hospital physicians and certified nurse midwives work together to provide complete prenatal care, including pregnancy testing, birth planning, and health education, as well as necessary tests, support, and encouragement. Physicians who specialize in maternal/fetal medicine are available for individuals who have special medical or genetic concerns or who face high-risk pregnancies.
The Birthplace
The Mount Auburn Birthplace combines care, compassion, and technology to offer parents-to-be and families a cozy and comfortable setting for births. Mothers stay in one room through labor, delivery, and recovery, and rooms are equipped with private baths and showers; some rooms have jacuzzis. If necessary, cesarean section rooms are immediately adjacent, as are anesthesiologists who are in-house 24 hours a day. Pediatricians and neonatal nurses are also in-house 24 hours a day for babies who require special care following delivery. Alternative birth experiences are also available, including birthing chairs, birthing balls, hypnobirthing, doulas, and water births.
