The top five things you need to know about getting care at MIT Health

  1. It’s included with tuition. Whether you’ve purchased the MIT Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP) or waived coverage, you can get most of your care at MIT Health with no copays or unexpected bills.
  2. You can get same-day care if you are sick or hurt. MIT Health’s Urgent Care Service is open from 8 a.m.–8 p.m., Monday through Friday, and from 10 a.m.–4 p.m. on weekends and most holidays. Reserve your spot online or just walk in.
  3. Plan ahead for routine care. If you need a check-up or have a non-urgent health concern, you can make an appointment in Primary Care. You will usually need to wait at least a few weeks for a Primary Care visit, so don’t wait until the last minute.
  4. We care about more than your physical health — and so should you. MIT Health’s Student Mental Health & Counseling can help you manage the challenges and pressures of daily life at MIT. We also offer a variety of resources to help you eat better, sleep better, and get more active.
  5. Healthcare without barriers. At MIT Health, we work hard to make our services accessible to patients with disabilities and patients who do not speak English as a first language. We provide private, accessible, all-gender restrooms on every floor, assistive listening devices, braille signage, and ASL interpreters. We also provide interpreter services for more than 150 spoken languages.
