Even though tuition covers most of the care you receive at MIT Health, some services require health insurance coverage — either SHIP [LINK] or other insurance, like your parents’ insurance plan — and/or out-of-pocket payment. When you receive a service that is not included with tuition, MIT Health will automatically bill your health insurer. You will receive a bill for the amount, if any, that your insurance does not cover.
Services at MIT Health that require MIT SHIP, other insurance coverage, and/or out-of pocket payment include:
- Obstetrical care, including prenatal and postpartum care
- Laboratory testing
- Acupuncture
- Dermatology
- Vaccinations, including required prematriculation vaccinations
- Routine eye care visits more frequently than once per (12) calendar months
- Physical therapy
- Specialty infusion or injectable medications
- Dental services
- Eyeglasses and contact lenses
