Student Volunteer Program

Enhance your MIT pre-med experience at MIT Health

MIT Health’s Student Volunteer Program (SVP) gives students the opportunity to learn from our healthcare professionals and make a positive impact on the MIT community.

What you’ll do:

  • Shadow MIT Health clinicians (Observational shadowing only — no clinical tasks required)
  • Gain insights into patient care, beyond the front desk
  • Assist staff with small non-clinical tasks (Examples include wayfinding and assisting patients with mobility challenges)
  • Learn about professionalism, appropriate behavior, and boundaries in a healthcare setting

Program requirements:

  • Current flu vaccination (Documentation required)
  • Current TB screening
  • Background check
  • Complete healthcare workplace training

Students can sign up for one two-hour shift each week, based on your schedule (Shifts are available weekdays from 10 a.m.–4 p.m.)
